Nurse Practitioners
Did you know that Nurse Practitioners have advanced nursing credentials (usually a Masters) and can manage and diagnose a wide range of medical conditions? They can perform certain procedures, order diagnostic tests and interpret them. Many nurse practitioners are licensed to write prescriptions. In 23 states they can open their own, independent practices.
Their purpose is to provide high quality, individualized healthcare in a variety of specialties. Nurse practitioners offer primary and acute care in family practice, midwifery, psychiatry, geriatric care and pediatrics, among others.
